Estimating Travel Times to Forest-Fires Using Resistance Surfaces
نویسندگان
چکیده
The time between when a fire crew is dispatched to a fire and when it arrives is an important factor in determining the size of a forest-fire and the resources required to put the fire out. Traditionally, travel time has been looked at as a point-to-point network problem. In this case, travel (by vehicle and by foot) may start and end at an infinite number of locations across the landscape. A raster approach has been used to solve the travel time problem for quick, real-time answers to be used in simulation modeling.

Forest fire is one of the important problems in Iran which is caused by different factors such as human and natural factors. One of these factors is climate conditions that can be created by heat wave and special circulation of atmospheric phenomena. Occurrence of forest fire in north of Iran have different impacts on environment such as destruction of natural. According to the position of Iran...

Of phenomena which much damage and irreparable import to forests and natural resources is the fire that each year, more than 100 fires occur in Iran and thousands of hectares of trees and plants eliminates. Given that fire risk is high in most parts of the world, full and continuous monitoring on this natural phenomenon, is essential. Use remote sensing is a way to identify and manage fire. Ahe...

Forest fires are one of the most important factors that threaten the ecological balance in the countries that are affected by the Mediterranean climate such as Turkey. Forests, that constitute 1⁄4 of the total area of our country, are in great danger of fire, especially during summer period. In 74,294 forest fires, we lost 1,630,000 hectares of forest area since 1937. This area is three times l...
